A Houston woman who has been charged with DWI after crashing her SUV into a gas station and then fleeing the scene, is in jail after she was pulled over and arrested Sunday evening, Houston police said.
Katy Hamilton, 28, was taken into custody Sunday night and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under influence of drugs, driving while license suspended, reckless driving and evading arrest, according to a statement from the Houston Police Department.
Hamilton is charged with DUI, driving with a suspended license, driving on a suspended or revoked license, evading police, driving without a license, failure to maintain lane and failure to yield the right of way to a vehicle on a public way, the statement said.
The charges stem from a June 28 crash in Houston’s southwest.
Police say Hamilton was driving a silver Dodge Charger at a traffic light when a police officer tried to stop the vehicle.
Police said the officer noticed a visible damage to the car’s bumper, and then Hamilton allegedly drove off with the driver inside.
She then fled the scene in the Dodge Chargers direction, the department said.
Police are looking for Hamilton, who has a warrant out for her arrest.
