Posted December 07, 2018 07:31:07 When Texas lawmakers voted to expand its gun laws earlier this year, it was the first time the Lone Star State had ever passed a law requiring people to carry concealed weapons.
But the new law, which went into effect in July, is now causing a lot of confusion.
We’ve written before about why this law is important, and what it means for people who want to carry their guns in public.
We also want to talk about the potential for confusion and misinformation surrounding the new gun law.
What you should know about Texas gun laws The law allows Texas residents to carry firearms without a permit or ID card, but the Department of Public Safety (DPPS) says that does not mean you can buy a gun at a gun store and bring it home.
“No person may possess a firearm while carrying a valid Texas concealed weapon permit or identification card issued by the Texas Department of Safety and Homeland Security,” the DPS said in a statement.
“The law does not change the requirement to present a current permit or license before purchasing a firearm.”
You need a permit to carry in Texas, but there are exceptions You don’t need a gun permit to purchase a gun in Texas.
You can buy guns in Texas by buying them from licensed dealers and sellers, or you can rent guns from licensed gun dealers and then bring them home.
But you don’t necessarily need a concealed carry permit to buy guns from gun shops or to bring them to a home for private use.
“Texas is a gun-free state,” the Texas Tribune wrote in its review of the law.
“You do not need a Texas concealed weapons permit to open a gun shop or carry a gun inside a home, nor to bring a gun home with you to your home.”
The law also doesn’t say what a “current permit” means.
The Texas Department for Public Safety says you don´t need a current license to open an open-carry business or to have firearms in your home.
If you have a current Texas concealed carry license, you can carry in public in Texas without a license.
“There are some things that are still unclear,” said Matt Anderson, who teaches firearms law at the University of Texas.
What Texas gun owners should know Before the new concealed carry law was passed, Texas gun owner Mark Harris was surprised by the law because he was unfamiliar with how the rules applied. “
What we do know is that the law requires that you are at least 18 years old to purchase or possess a handgun and to have a valid license to carry it.”
What Texas gun owners should know Before the new concealed carry law was passed, Texas gun owner Mark Harris was surprised by the law because he was unfamiliar with how the rules applied.
“I don’t understand how the permit would be valid to carry a firearm,” Harris told The Texas Tribune.
“This was a complete surprise to me.”
Harris is the owner of a gun company in Dallas and has been carrying a concealed handgun permit since 2015.
He says the new laws have had a dramatic effect on his business.
“Our sales have dropped dramatically,” Harris said.
“A lot of people have stopped taking the business and stopped visiting our website.
I’m not saying they’re going to shoot me, but I think they’re more likely to do it in self-defense,” Harris added. “
Most people who have guns are hunting or hunting for sport.
I’m not saying they’re going to shoot me, but I think they’re more likely to do it in self-defense,” Harris added.
“It’s kind of like a gun show, where you’re not really allowed to have your gun out unless you’re doing something else.
It’s kind [of] a bit of a gamble.”
